Update from 1.1.2
« on: September 13, 2008, 10:28:02 AM »
I would just like conformation that the instructions in the README-INSTALL file for updating from 1.1.0 are valid for updating from 1.1.2.

Before I do something I wish I hadn't - it appears that overwriting my site files with all the files in the download is all that is necessary.  That action will not cause me to have to re-create my site.  I will backup the files in my SOSWP root directory and backup the database first. But I am not expected to have to restore my files, right?

The backup is precautionary.  Just in case there is something on your server that conflicts, or a file that is corrupted while uploading, or some unknown event.  You should always be ready to put everything back if something unexpected happens.

Upgrading from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4 only requires that you replace some of the files in your current installation with files in the upgrade package.  There are also a few new files.

There is a lot less that can go wrong upgrading from 1.1.x to 1.1.4 then from 1.0 to 1.1 (which makes database changes).

I updated from 1.1.2 to 1.1.5 just fine.  When the install.php ran I was a little concerned, but no worries. It would have helped if the notes in the readme file reminded me to set the permissions on the dbconnection file first.

I did a backup first - and glad I did.  I had modified the style.css in the beta99 template to alter some colors.  I had to recover my modified version of that file from the backup.

Nice improvements in the new version.

Thanks

You should not run install.php when updating.

The update files do not even contain install.php.

install.php is included in the Full Package SOSWP_1.1.5.zip
update.php is included in the Update from 1.0.x versions SOSWP_1.0.x_to_1.1.5.zip
Neither is included in the Update from 1.1.x versions SOSWP_1.1.x_to_1.1.5.zip

The Update readme files mention that you should rename the templates if you modify them.
