Problem with new version 1.1.6
« on: February 08, 2009, 02:56:46 AM »
Hello Chris,

I downloaded the latest version of SOSWP and installed it (fresh install). So far, so good. After the post-install settings i wanted to return to the homepage and got a blank page (not found). Maybe it has something to do with my other finding: In the administrator menu - under site info -  i saw that there was no possibility to change language.

Please help!  :'(

With kind regards,
Elon Roozeboom

Hi Elon:

I downloaded and did fresh installs with both the zip and gz packages without an issue.

If you do not have languages listed on the Admin Site Info page, then you are probably missing the language files. That script checks the includes/languages directory for files to create the list.  If you are getting a "Page Not Found" Error (404), then you are missing index.php in the home directory.

Double check the following:
  • Did all files get uploaded?
  • Did you use the correct URL at setup?  If you didn't, you may be getting a redirect to a wrong directory.  Check in the URL when you go to the homepage.
  • Were there errors in your download?  Check the md5 sums and/or download again.  Sourceforge was switching a lot of pages to their new layout while I was uploading the new files.

Thanks for asking, and please reply with success or failure.  Good Luck.

Hi Chris,

I have reinstalled SOS Webpages and it seemed to work, but after installation i tried to change the administrator password. Is it possible that the script admin_update_admin.php fails? I get a blank page and the settings are not updated. (I tried it in Firefox and IE)

I think this is the blank page i mentioned this morning. I'm sorry if my description of the problem wasn't clear enough...  :-[

Is it possible that the script admin_update_admin.php fails? I get a blank page and the settings are not updated.

Note to anyone that has this problem: Check your php version. PHP5 is required for this file to function.  SOS Webpages requires PHP5, although most of it will work with PHP4.
